Total MBBS seats in India

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has brought excellent news for NEET aspirants by approving over 11,000 new MBBS seats (specifically around 11,682 seats as per recent Health Ministry data shared in Parliament) for the academic year 2025-26, along with the establishment of 43 new medical colleges across India. This significant addition has pushed the total MBBS seats in the country to approximately 1,29,026 (including government, private, AIIMS, and other Institutes of National Importance), marking a substantial increase from the previous year's figure and improving admission chances for thousands of aspiring doctors preparing for NEET 2026.
